Today i recieved a rather odd request from a Batavian citizen, below are the original message and my response.
Dear J. Hart,
An old dutch micronation (founded in 2002) is searching for land to claim on Micras. This nation has friendship with my country, Batavia. That old nation is called Virtuele Republiek Vlaanderen, in English: Republic of Flanders.
The wish of both countries is that we share our borders. And in search of possibilities, we found out that it's dificult to find some. On personal note I contact you with a request that is not an act of war or disrespect.
I would like to ask that the Republic of Flanders takeover the place of Gascony on the map. In two ways I think it's a posibility:
1. The area of Gascony will be an active area, in political as culture.
2. The area of Gascony will be use as country, not only an area thats belongs to another kingdom far away.
I hope you consider this madder seriously and if you say "no", I will respect that. We will not consider war of something. It's only a question in diplomic respect. We think it's a good posibility.
If you want to know what old nation I'm talking about, you can find their forums here:

Gustaaf Vermeylen,
thank you for your message of earlier today. As part of my consideration of your proposal i looked into the history of Gascony and it's neighbours and came to the following conclusions:
1) Firstly I found that Gascony has been in it's current position longer than any of it's neighbours, having seemingly been entirely identical since September 2007. This can be seen here: micras.org/Archive/maps/Claimsmap--012--12.2.png . Note that although Gascony is exactly the same there as it is now, none of the surrounding nations (including Batavia) were there when the territory was established.
2) It seems the Duchy of Gascony was established to be a continuation of the rule of King Edward over that area of territory which had previously been the Númenorian province of Ithilien, of which Edward was Prince. The former province of Ithilien can be seen on this map from January 2007 micras.org/Archive/maps/Claimsmap--009--9.5.png . The historical document recalling the establishment of the colony can be seen here: kingdombosworth.proboards.com/in ... &thread=92 .
3) The Duchy of Gascony has a lot of its own culture and isn't simply a piece of land belonging to Bosworth. Much of Gascony's culture is preserved here kingdombosworth.proboards.com/in ... oard=roche under the keeping of its Duke.
4) Bosworth fought a rather disasterous war to keep hold of Gascony in June 2008, the details of which can be found here: viewforum.php?f=23 .
Given this evidence I must conclude that Gascony is a vital part of Bosworth and cannot therefore be given away, even to a nation as respectable as Vlaandaren. However we wish you well in your search for land, and perhaps if Batavia wants Flanders as neighbours they'd be willing to give some of their own land away .
If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
All the best,
J Hart
