There are several ways in which our ground forces can defend our nation, i have explained all of them that i can think of below: - Defend the cities- garrison all the major cities and engage in house to house fighting with the enemy. This if favourable if our forces are well trained at this type of fighting, however it may draw air raids and artillery fire onto civilian areas which we don't want.
- Drive them back into the sea- When an invasion comes we push all of our forces into the invasion zone in an attempt to force our enemy back into the sea. The large number of troops involved makes victory quite likely, but if an attack comes elsewhere then the enemy may surround our soldiers.
- Build defencive lines- create a system of artillery batteries and defencive structures along borders and coastal areas. These are able to be manned by a small number of soldiers and can hold out for a long time, but if the enemy drop soldiers in by plane behind the lines the we're in trouble
- Guerilla tactics- small groups of troops go around laying traps or ambushing the enemy before disappearing again. If troops are well trained and there's a favourable landscape then it can be done with ease, however if the landscape is open and large numbers of troops are killed then it is likely to fail.
I personally favour a mixture of them all, however i will ask everyone else what they think before acting on my thoughts.

Guerilla tactics have been proven very effective over the years in real life conflicts, I think that we should use them if we are ever attacked. As for defensive lines of artillery set-ups and such, surely we could defend them from behind by putting a small number of troops looking inland, and setting up communication and look-out posts to spot any incoming planes which may have paratroopers inside?

Guerilla tactics do seem to be the best option, however we should wait and see what landscape our nation has on any map before relying on this to much. Regarding look-out posts, its a good idea but troops need to be sufficiently mobile to move quickly into threatened areas if this is to work.

Hmm... jeeps? Other vehicles? Could they work? They might be a bit expensive, though, to give every outpost a vehicle. But it migt be worth it.

APV's might be better than jeeps defencively, but then again they are slower and more expensive so i'm not sure. Lorrys could be good though as they're cheap and pretty all-terrain.

Might a lorry get bogged down if it was too muddy though?

Hhhhmmm that is a possibility yes. Again i think all of this relies on what land we get on the maps.
