The Royal palace of Ambion stands on the banks of the River Hamble, a tall wide building which hugs the waterside. The building is constructed of various materials; the waterside is made of abundant limestone with many tall chimneys and pinnacles delicately crafter out of the rock. A jetty juts out into the slow moving water of the river, the pier leads up to the low wooden water-gates in the palace side from where the King sets out in his Royal yacht.
The opposite side of the palace faces out onto a narrow street; this face is formed of black wooden beams broken up with large amounts of white plaster. All around the palace, hundreds of tall windows flood the interior with light and give the outside a glowing quality which stands out amongst the buildings which surround it. The exterior walls are not entirely flat; the top floor sticks out several meters above the pavement outside the palace gates and on the riverbanks a number of semi-circular bay windows protrude into the water. In addition to this the outside stone surfaces are intricately carved with patterns of leaves and jewels, similarly the window and door arches are expertly crafted to reflect the splendour of the palace interior.
