Great it's a shame they don't build any nice looking churchs now-a-days, if at all they're all the ugly little brick things although of course the appearence of the building isnt the point.

I somehow don't think there are enough qualified people or enough money to build a decent cathedral in modern England, i doubt the government will support a multi-million pound building project which may take a lifetime to complete. I hate capitalism (and communism)

lol! What system don't you hate then Edward? If they can build loads of mosques in places like Peterborough i think they might be able to build a church if they wanted to..

I'm not that into any system really, anarchy seems like it could be quite nice though such as they had in medieval europe. And i dont think we should discuss the likes of peterborough

You can have as many beautiful churches built as you would like if you can find people who are as rich as the Saudi Sheiks, who are the ones who are financing those mosques, and who are also willing to fund the construction of such churches.

The British government is considering spending 100 million pounds of tax-payer money on a mosque in London which, according to the person filing the planning appplication, is to be used to convert the entire country to Islam. I think it was the criticism of the plan that resulted in an angry crowd of muslims bearing signs reading "God kill the Queen" in London, although of course i believe the peaceful muslims are in the majority they are a lot less vocal than their extremist brothers.

Fanaticism and extreme elements of any religion can be dangerous - even worse is the fact that in our Western societies, which is in the UK secular but still in a heavily Christian country, are too hasty to label all Moslems as Terrorists and Extremists, or indeed all Terrorists as Moslems. What you describe, Edward, is disgusting and is a disgrace to the word "Islam" - which is by nature I believe a very peaceful and loving religion much like ours.
I personally don't see a problem with an attempt to convert the whole country to Islam, as Christians I believe the vast majority of us respect other religions or indeed believe that all religions are ways to the same God, paths up different slopes of the same mountain heading towards the summit. If it abhors you so then there is no chance you will be converted and therefore you have nothing to fear.
